SM5TC becomes SM6TC from 2 Jan 07

Based on the below mentioned changes to the Baltic Exchange Supramax Index, IMAREX and NOS will change the name of the SM5TC supramax futures contracts to SM6TC on 2 January 2007.

Following extensive consultation and earlier announcements, the Baltic reminds the market that the following dry index changes will take place on the 2nd of January 2007.
Baltic Exchange Supramax Index:
In order to continue to provide the most accurate possible representation of the global daily timecharter value of a Supramax vessel, Route S4 (transatlantic round voyage) will be subdivided into two separate route reports, to be known as S4A and S4B, as follow.
- S4A
Delivery US Gulf for a trip of about 30 days, redelivery Skaw-Passero range, 5% commission total, laycan 5/10 days in advance
- S4B
Delivery Skaw – Passero range for a trip of about 30 days, redelivery US Gulf, 5% commission total, laycan 5/10 days in advance.
The S4 component of the Timecharter Average will therefore consist of these new routes, each accounting for 12.5% of the total.

In addition, as recently announced, the trial status of Route S6 (Delivery South Korea-Japan range for a trip via Australia of 45/50 days, redelivery India, 5% commission total, laycan 5/10 days in advance) will be lifted and the S6 becomes an official Baltic Route from 2 January 2006.
NB: Route S6 will NOT form part of the Baltic Exchange Supramax Index. It is provided as a stand alone route assessment only.
