A total of 653 trades were done via Imarex during June 2006, up 55% on the same period in 2005. The nominal value of all trades done via Imarex in June was USD 417 million, an increase of 83% compared to June 2005. The volumes traded were 17 124 lots (1 lot= 1 000 tonnes or 1 day of time charter) up 17% compared to the same period last year.

 

Tanker derivatives: 

 

Imarex handled a total of 496 tanker derivative transactions during June, a 27% increase on June 2005. A total of 8 106 lots (8.1 million tonnes) were traded via Imarex, down 14% compared to the 9 245 lots traded in the same period last year. The nominal value of tanker transactions at Imarex was USD 149 million, up 14% from USD 131 in the same period last year.

 

Dry bulk derivatives:

 

The total number of dry bulk transactions concluded via IMAREX and cleared at NOS was 102, continuing the positive trend in transaction growth at IMAREX. Transactions grew 218% compared to June 2005. The number of dry bulk contracts traded during June 2006 was 8 319. This is an increase of 54% on the same period last year.   The nominal transaction value of dry bulk derivatives traded at Imarex in June was USD 162.6 million up 67% compared to June 2005.

 

Bunker fuel oil derivatives: 

 

The total number of fuel oil derivative transactions in June was 49, up from from 34 in May.  A total of 339 000 tonnes were traded compared to 406 000 tonnes in May. The total nominal value of bunker fuel oil contracts traded at Imarex in June was USD 101.5 million down from USD 138.6 million in May.
