Instant, straight through clearing of maritime derivatives
NOS and Imarex have since 2000 invested substantial resources in building a safer and more efficient marketplace, as an alternative for principals to the relatively poor reputation of the OTC freight derivatives market.
The combined offering from Imarex and NOS is based on a legal framework consisting of the Rulebook, trading-, clearing- and banking- agreements. In addition to the electronic matching, Imarex offers a professional marketplace support service to principal members.
A key part of that offering is our ability to provide instant clearing, also known as "Straight Through Clearing".
A condition for STC is of course that all trades are connected directly and instantly, not late in the day or even the following day as is often the case in trades converted from the OTC market, via FFA brokers.
NOS depends on a consistent flow of cleared trades and price observations to ensure the principals efficient margining, and this is only ensured by Imarex’ full commitment to promoting cleared trades through their marketplace concept.
